Approved Press Tools
Lawton 316L Press Fittings are approved for use with M-profile press tools from:
- Novopress
- Geberit
- Rothenberger
- REMS
Important: Matching press tools, adaptors, jaws and slings from the same manufacturer must always be used during installation.
Water Quality Guidance
316L stainless steel offers excellent corrosion resistance for potable water systems.
- Chloride ion content in potable water should not exceed 250 mg/l.
- 316L stainless steel can tolerate chloride concentrations up to 1000 mg/l, but prolonged exposure at elevated temperatures may increase the risk of pitting or crevice corrosion.
- Where chlorine-based disinfection is used, application duration and concentration should be carefully controlled.
- Water treatment products must be compatible with stainless steel systems.
Material Compatibility
Dissimilar Metals
Installations containing mixed metals should generally be avoided, as galvanic corrosion can occur when metals with significantly different electrochemical properties are connected directly together.
Where mixed-metal systems are unavoidable:
- Follow the Water Regulations Guide.
- Apply recognised good engineering practice.
- Use appropriate isolation measures where required.
Grade Compatibility
- 304 and 316L stainless steel fittings and tube may be used within the same installation.
- Overall corrosion resistance will be determined by the least corrosion-resistant component within the system.
- For potable water applications, 316L is the preferred material due to its enhanced resistance to chloride-induced corrosion.
